Baby, it may be cold outside…but it’s warm at the art table!  How about some super fast and super simple thank you cards today?  I have a pot of sparkly paste that I wanted to play with.  This Winter Wonderland Thank You Card is second in a series of four thank you Snail Mail cards.  I hope you enjoy it!

Here’s what I used:

Here’s the drill:

  1. Cover the paper with black gesso using the hotel key card and let dry.
  2. Paint on the dark blue paint.  A lighter color of blue might be more visible over the black.
  3. When dry, lay the stencil over the paper and tape it down to stabilize it.
  4. Using the wide palette knife, flatten the snowflake paste into the stencil holes.
  5. Lift the stencil off carefully and wash it immediately.
  6. Apply archival black ink around the edges of the envelope

The Snowflake Paste has a consistency that looks a lot like marshmallow cream.  It takes quite a while to dry, which surprised me. It shrinks a little and leaves a beautiful, subtle circle around the snowflakes.  I’m really loving the stencils from StencilGirl.  They tend to be a little thicker and stronger than some other brands.  Since the company promotes individual mixed-media artists, each one is specifically “artist-designed”.  The one I used today is by Nathalie Kalbach and was perfect for this Winter Wonderland Thank You Card.  Nathalie says, “everyone can be creative” on her website.  I totally agree!  START SOMEWHERE today letting yourself be free to unleash your unique creativity.  LIVE YOUNGER by nurturing your mind, body and spirit.  Join me Tuesday through Friday for more strategies to enhance your life.  You can do it.  I will help you!
