Love is in the air!  Let’s make a Wedding Congratulations Card! Using a ready-made card/envelope set purchased on sale, these cards have just a few steps. I made two to try out the different sparkly sprays.  They both ended up having a rich texture and glimmer, with the Perfect Pearls being my favorite. The spray mists were in my stash and there are many new ones on the market lately.  Using the “label letters from Tim Holtz, it was a cinch to customize.  Here’s what I used:

It was nice having a premade card but the cardstock isn’t as thick as the watercolor paper that I typically use.  The technique would be wonderful on the luxurious Strathmore paper.  It was an experiment!  Here are the basic steps:

  1. Spray the card with glimmer mist.  I should have tested the green first because the color was very light – I would have gone for more intensity.
  2. Stamp image with Archival Ink or something that is color fast.  This product dries quickly.  Some of the other permanent inks are slower, so make sure it is dry.
  3. On the second card, the image is stamped on a piece of rescued tissue paper and then collaged onto the card with matte medium.  I love the texture the collage creates.
  4. Stick on the little letters.   A palette knife makes them easier to remove and then stick on the card.
  5. Squirt out clear gesso and mix in some Pearl Pigment.  Spread it around, giving it time to start setting.  It will soon get thicker so that you can use your palette knife to give it beautiful texture.  I wish I had used a cotton swab to clear the gesso off the letters.  Oh well…live and learn!
  6. This takes awhile to dry.  Be sure to decorate your envelope!

Any super-fine glitter will work in place of the Pearl Ex Pigments.  Or, you can spritz the clear gesso with glimmer spray.  Be fearless!  Use what supplies you already have.  There are a myriad of different things you could do.  Colored tissue paper would add color pop!

Thank so much for joining me on this adventure as we learn to LIVE YOUNGER.  Next week, we’ll be making another wedding card next week.  I’m having an idea…..
