Oh my goodness!  Grab your Distress Oxides and take a mini vacation to de-stress from your busy life.  Today was such fun!  The layers and layers of color are incredible!  I feel totally relaxed after creating this Distress Oxide Snail Mail.

It is estimated that over 80 percent of doctor visits have a stress component.  Finding strategies to manage and decrease this wear and tear on your body is essential to LIVING YOUNGER.  Snail Mail is an excellent way to help yourself and to make someone else happy when they open your gorgeous card.  Here’s what I used today

What goes on your body goes in your body!  That’s why I try to wear gloves.  The majority of the art supplies haven’t been thoroughly tested for safety and it is best to minimize exposure on your skin.  While I did don gloves off camera in preparing the paper with gesso, I totally forgot while using the Distress Oxides and they really stained my fingers.  Because there are so many toxicants in our modern environment, it is better to be safe than sorry.  Our bodies are designed to detoxify irritants but the systems can get overwhelmed.

Here’s the drill:

  1. Prepare paper with a thin coating of clear gesso and let dry.
  2. “Smoosh” the ink onto the non-stick craft sheet and spritz with water.
  3. Run the paper through the ink, repeating with as many colors as desired.  These inks layer beautifully!
  4. You can spritz with water at the end and create beautiful water marks!
  5. Trim card to desired size.
  6. If desired, punch a design opening in the front.
  7. Color in the opening with the ink via a sponge and let dry.
  8. Put in desired text.  The Tim Holtz “chit chat” words would work great here too!
  9. Write a note, address, seal, stamp, mail, and smile!

Thank you for joining me for this Distress Oxide Snail Mail Monday.  START SOMEWHERE today doing more of what brings you joy!  You can do it.  I will help you!
