I choose to look at life as an adventure and strive to fully express God’s purpose for my time on earth.  I love to work. I love to study. I love time with my family. Those are all gifts but I neglect the need to be alone “doing nothing.”  It’s easy to forget to take intentional time everyday to play in my Art Journal on pages that nobody will see except me.  Art Journaling brings me joy and we all need to cultivate more joy in our everyday lives.  Cultivate daily joy to LIVE YOUNGER.

What brings you joy? It’s different for everyone!  Here are a few ideas for accessing daily joy:

  • Go outside into nature and listen.
  • Find a small way to help someone.
  • Write and mail a note of gratitude.
  • Take an Epsom salts bath or even just soak your feet.
  • Slowly smell of the spices in your cupboard.  (This is really nice.)
  • Dream of a place you would like to travel. Let yourself feel what it might be like to be there.
  • Sing out loud.  (This is one that I have to do alone or it’s considered disturbing the peace.)
  • Find a way to serve a stranger.
  • Get lost with your art supplies and create something.
  • Memorize something inspiring.
  • Light a candle.
  • Listen to uplifting music.
  • Teach something (like knitting/cooking/gardening) to somebody.
  • Watch a sunrise or a sunset.
  • Declutter and donate some good things.
  • Guiltlessly enjoy your favorite hobby.
  • Pray. (my personal favorite!)

The Merriam-Webster definition of joy is “the emotion evoked by well being, success, or good fortune or by the prospect of possessing what one desires, as in delight.”  I believe that joy can be cultivated beyond circumstances.  There are so many areas of life that we can’t control.  START SOMEWHERE today with me to cultivate daily joy to LIVE YOUNGER.
